We all tighten the purse strings at the start of the year, especially after splashing the cash on Christmas, then a little more on New Year’s, before spending our last £20 on a bunch of roses come Valentine’s Day. Being hard up shouldn’t mean missing out. With our guide to London on a budget you’ll be sure to find something to tickle your fancy without having to break the bank.

Home to exhibitions, presentations and some wonderfully preserved friends, The National History Museum is a favourite amongst tourists wanting to soak up the capital’s culture (for a cheap fee). Sadly visitors recently said their last goodbyes to Dippy, the much-loved Dino, who loyally guarded the museum’s entrance for over 35 years. Now’s your chance to join the masses and gather in the grand hall to welcome the Museum’s latest star attraction, a blue whale that floats above the crowds. One of the largest animals to have ever lived, you can only imagine how gigantic he is – a must see if you ask us!

Joining in the festivity of a royal celebration is a lot cheaper than you may think. This is because The Queen’s House has recently reopened following a major restoration, the perfect way to celebrate its 400th anniversary. Living up to its status, Inigo Jones designed a majestic spectacle, taking inspiration from his travels to Italy. Guests can marvel at the architectural artistry, which doesn’t fail to astound. His Tulip Stairs are a particular crowd pleaser and the best place for the perfect Instagram picture.

Finally, if you add up the cost of family outings they can be a pretty expensive affair, which is why The Southbank Centre is helping us out with this one. It promises a children’s party like no other. ‘Imagine’ is an interactive, educational and a fun event (not to mention a bargain) that gets you thinking. Families can embrace some quality bonding time, with story telling from kids’ favourite authors, as well as captivating live performances. We don’t want to be a party pooper but Imagine is only on for two weeks, so hurry.
We can’t wait to follow your London adventures on social.
