| 5 MIN READ

n our series of spotlighting some of the most popular neighbourhoods in London, within easy reach of Dolphin Square and Pimlico, we’re taking a look at one of London’s most famous boroughs drenched in maritime history: Greenwich. Overlooking the River Thames and occupying one of South London’s most attractive areas, Greenwich has remained quite the presence in Central London.

We wrote this guide with the aim to highlight why staying in serviced apartments near Greenwich guarantees you access to world-class attractions and Royal heritage in the heart of London. Join us in getting to know Greenwich on a more personal level and find out why choosing a Dolphin Square Serviced Apartment will conveniently place you amongst all of the action

At a glance: Greenwich

Greenwich is in the southeast of London and is famous for being the site of the Meridian Line, or longitude 0º. When measuring longitude, the Meridian is the benchmark against which all measurements are made. Alongside its strong ties and naval roots, Greenwich is the destination for visitors sharting interests in world heritage and architecture dating back to the 1600s.

Greenwich is also home to a handful of great markets where you’ll find stalls and shops selling all sorts of arts, crafts, artefacts, clothes, and more. There’s a food market too where you can grab a plate of almost any cuisine you can think of: all at competitive prices.

Things to do around Greenwich: What to see and do

Situated on the banks of the River Thames, Greenwich Park is one of London’s most visited green spaces offering iconic views across the city. Boasting 17th-century landscapes, well-kept gardens, and tranquil flower beds, Greenwich Park is a favourite spot for locals and visitors to relax. There’s plenty to explore in the park including the General Wolfe Statue, The Queen’s Orchard, Greenwich Park Playground, and the Wilderness Deer Park.

Known for its rich maritime history, the National Maritime Museum houses a collection of more than two million items including paintings, navigational instruments, public records, as well as ship models and plans. The museum was officially established in 1934 and continues to educate visitors about all things sea and navigation.

Without a doubt, The O2 arena is one of London’s most recognised buildings. The multi-purpose indoor area has the second-highest seating capacity of any indoor venue in the United Kingdom (beaten by the Manchester Arena up north). As one can expect, there’s always something going on at The O2 and if you’re in the area, a visit to a show, exhibition, or just a snoop around is a must. Want to take your visit to the next level? Climb The O2 and soak in the views of London’s skyline.
