September has arrived, which can only mean one thing, Autumn is upon us. Auburn leaves aren’t the only things hitting the pavements, as the upcoming months will see a stampede of runners gracing the capital. Whether they're racing novices or a Mo Farah in the making, these enthusiasts defy all weather conditions in pursuit of fitness and charity. Have no fear, there's no need to put your vests and shorts back in your wardrobe, just yet.
Richmond Running Festival – 18th September
Richmond Running Festival, aka RunFest, sees runners take to the picturesque route, through the beautiful Kew Gardens before winding their way to the Thames River, absorbing the historic sites of Richmond. The last mile welcomes triumphant, and slightly tired, runners to the finish line with a cheer and the bellowing beats of the live bands.
Royal Parks half Marathon – 9th October
With over 16,000 people all geared up and ready to tackle this epic 13.1 mile run, the Royal Parks Half Marathon is the city's most popular race. Supporters flock to Hyde Park in their thousands to the cheer on friends and loved ones who battle their way through the parks across London, in aid of charity. With causes such as Mind and Cancer Research (among many others), this is one of London's largest fitness charity initiatives and draws a lot of attention due to the number of unusual running attires. Past outfits have included dinosaurs, elephants, one or all of the seven dwarves and even Wally.
