Winter has officially invaded. The mornings are icy and we’re shrinking further and further into our coats to battle against those sharp winds, the cold’s soldiers. It might be November, but every year we hear those sleigh bells earlier and isn’t Christmas the best thing about the season anyway? We’ve chosen our top three things to do in London this winter - cosiness, and a sprinkling of Christmas cheer, ensured.
Every winter the season flurries through the halls of Hogwarts, or Warner Brothers Studios, and invites fans to experience a true Harry Potter Christmas. Visitors can admire the glittering Christmas trees that line the Great Hall and its replica festive feast. Now, for the first time, honorary Hogwarts students are also invited to the Yule Ball which transforms a section of the hall into the dance of our literary dreams. Don’t forget to step into the Gryffindor common room and admire original props and costumes. Hogwarts will be blanketed in snow from 18th November to 28th January and on 11th, 12th and 13th December you can even stay for dinner in the great hall.
Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park
The most anticipated winter event in London is returning for its eleventh year this weekend, running until 1st January. With a dazzling variety of activities from the Magical Ice Kingdom and shows such as Cinderella on Ice, to over 100 rides that have you flying and spinning over Wonderland, the whole family is spoilt for choice. Winter Wonderland is also home to the largest ice rink in the UK for figure skaters and beginners alike to glind upon. Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without indulging in something sweet with a mulled wine or hot chocolate from one of the many bars, restaurants or food stalls.

Time Out Loves Christmas Movies
Time Out have teamed up with Elephant and Castle venue, Lost Rivers, for the tinsel-strewn event of the festive season. The new entertainment venue will deck the halls and showcase Time Out’s list to Santa of their favourite Christmas films. Gather in this magical grotto and watch the Christmas classics from Home Alone to Miracle on 34th Street and even a preview of the re-release of The Muppet Christmas Carol. Make sure you hang around after the screening and enjoy performances and music as well as a couple of drinks. The event will be running from Thursday 23rd November to Saturday 16th December and it is definitely one you’ll want to dig out your favourite Christmas jumper for.
