In tribute to the much beloved Jazz singer, Amy Winehouse we've recommended a selection of Jazz clubs in the local area, to raise a smoked whisky and celebrate her life in true Winehouse style.
The Classic - The Boisdale Jazz and Cigar Club, Belgravia.
Situated in the heart of Belgravia, the charm and embodiment of jazz, seeps through the smouldering red painted brickwork of the elegant Regent townhouse. What better way to enjoy a liquored filled tumbler than to sit amidst traditional jazz lovers and lose yourself in the moment! Why not...as Amy did in the video of ‘Stronger than Me’. The Boisdale is holding a tantalising Cuban cigar and La Hechicera Rum tasting event on the 27th July at 6.30pm – the perfect way (and excuse) to kick start your week.
The Niche - 606 Club, Chelsea
Talking about kick starting your week, why not make it a nightly thing and visit a club that is open all night, every night. Open seven nights a week, 606 Club is home to an array of talented British jazz musicians. It’s the perfect intimate venue where the jazz band is so close, you can strum the guitar or bang on the drum yourself! Hidden away like the traditional speak easies of the 20s, 606 Club embodies the underground jazz movement – it’s the best unkept secret in the area.
The Boss - Ronnie Scott’s
Where is the best place for late night gritty jazz, you ask? It can’t be said without mentioning that the crème de le crème of all jazz clubs is Ronnie Scott’s. Local haunt of jazz greats Fitzgerald, Blakley, David and Winehouse, Ronnie Scott’s is one of the most respected jazz clubs in the world. Located in London's vibrant Soho, this jazz club's sultry blues transfixes its punters. This is one club that you'll definitely experience 'FoMo' (fear of missing out) over, so don't! Let's be 'Frank'! Don't feel the blues next week, listen to them and raise a toast to Amy.
