Halloween in London 2019

London | 4 MIN READ

Halloween, otherwise known All Hallow’s Eve, or perhaps even 31st October if getting spooked isn’t your thing, has been growing in popularity over the past few years. What was once a largely ignored holiday in the UK took a few pointers from the USA and trick or treating started to be introduced; the kids loved it. But what about something for the adults? That’s when people started to host or attend special Halloween parties. And then the fright mazes and haunted houses began to pop up, scaring us in all kinds of delightful ways.

Today, there are a plethora of ideas for you to enjoy if you want to have a happy Halloween in London. 2019 is definitely the year to be afraid… be very afraid…

Halloween Bottomless Boozy Spooky Brunch

Sometimes it’s about the people you’re with and the atmosphere of the venue that makes a Halloween party like no other, and that’s what Ping Pong Soho is looking to create at their special Halloween event. This is, as the name suggests, a bottomless brunch with free-flowing cocktails, wine, beer, spirits (of all kinds – it is Halloween, after all), and champagne. Plus there is a set menu of delicious dim sum delicacies. The best scary costume will even win a round of blood coloured shots, and there will be plenty of music and dancing as well.

Dates: 26th October & 2nd November
Location: Ping Pong Soho, 45 Marlborough Street, London W1F 7JL

Crime Scene Live

If you want a Halloween event to make you think as well as make you smile then Crime Scene Live at the Natural History Museum could well be it. A killer is on the loose, and a priceless artefact has been stolen. Now you have to gather up the facts, find the evidence, analyse the crime scene, even carry out experiments to find the killer and bring them to justice.

There is only one rule (apart from the one that says you have to enjoy yourself, of course), and that’s that all guests must come dressed as a detective – which one is down to you, but trousers and flat shoes are a good idea.

Dates: 1st November
Location: Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London SW7 5BD

Lost Boys Pizza

Perhaps one of the best Halloween films ever made, The Lost Boys is a cult classic. Come and watch it in style (and in fear) in the crypt that lies beneath Lost Boys Pizza. For the price of a ticket you’ll enjoy black pizza and bottomless beer, wine, or prosecco throughout the film. You can even pay a little extra to sit on a comfy sofa, and the surroundings will be spooky and immersive.

Dates: 31st October and 1st November
Location: Lost Boys Pizza, 245 Eversholt Street, London NW1 1BA

Tales of Beyond

If stories are your thing, and spooky stories in particular, then why not listen to some on Halloween to really set the tone for the night ahead? At Brompton Cemetery Giles Abbot will be taking you into the beyond, telling tales of blood and gore and creepy characters galore. They include: The Devil’s Violin, The Unquiet Grave, The Girl With The Golden Arms, The Pardoner’s Tale, The Grave That No-One Would Dig, Mrs Brown’s Jigsaw Puzzle, The Earl King, Odysseus In The Underworld, The Cascade of the Ghosts, and many more. The stories will be told by torchlight as you take a walk through the cemetery until you reach the chapel itself.

Location: Brompton Cemetery, Fulham Road, London SW10 9UG

Kiss Haunted House Party 2019

The Kiss Haunted House Party has become a true Halloween tradition now, and this roadshow brings some huge names Wembley Arena for a pop up Halloween party that dance and urban music enthusiasts are going to love. Dressing up is absolutely the way to go, and you’ll hear some of your absolute favourite tunes in a new spooky style. The Glory is a ‘queer superpub’ known throughout London as a fun place to be no matter what night of the year it might be. For their Halloween Ball, however, The Glory is taking over the Hackney Empire, and it’s drag all the way. From lip-syncing contests to gay bingo with Jonny Woo, as well as fabulous DJ Chaka Khan’t, it’s fun and frights from start to finish.

Fortnum & Mason Pumpkin Carving Classes

Heading to Fortnum & Mason isn’t usually a scary thing to do, but on this occasion, for Halloween 2019, it’s spooky with a hint of fun thrown in. With sessions for both adults and children, you can learn how to carve beautiful pumpkins to really impress those trick or treaters when they come a-knocking on 31st October. Create your unique pumpkin pattern, and you might even win a prize for best in class. Even if you don’t, you can enjoy some wicked treats when you’re done.

Location: Fortnum & Mason, 181 Piccadilly, St James's, London W1A

Once Upon A Time On Halloween: An Orchestral Tarantino Special

Quentin Tarantino’s films are often a mixture of gore and weird stuff happening – take Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, for example. So it makes sense that there should be a party that is dedicated to the music from Tarantino’s movies, played on this occasion by a full orchestra. ‘Visuals’ are promised, and although we don’t exactly know what that means, it’s sure to be fun and freakish. Don’t forget to dress up as your favourite Tarantino character; you’ll feel out of place if you’re the only one in civvies.

Dates: 31st October
Location: XOYO Shoreditch, 32-37 Cowper Street, London EC2A 4AP

Halloween On Ice

Not everyone’s mind is on Halloween at this time of year; some are thinking of Christmas. So how best to combine the two to ensure that everyone can have a good time? Make an ice skating rink for Halloween, of course! This booze filled event will be full of zombies and vampires, there is a prize for the best costume, and there will even be some special Halloween-themed performances on the ice.
