Christmas shopping: the best boutiques in Pimlico

Coming to London for some last minute Christmas shopping? Pimlico is full of independent businesses where you’re guaranteed to find something unique for that special someone, says Imogen Lepere

Pimlico Trove, 20 Upper Tachbrook Street:

An independent boutique with deep local roots, owners Elena Gattinara and Richard Brass spent 20 years running a tour-operating business from this smart little site on Tachbrook Street, but in 2015 decided it was time for a change. They now stock ceramics, jewelry and other gifts from artisan designers and ethical producers.

Victoria Windsor, 41 Moreton Street:

Founder Victoria Windsor was briefly a banker before opening this stylish boutique, which is your one stop shop for all things celebratory. She stocks flowers from New Covent Garden Market, cards by independent illustrators, candles, homeware, stationery, handmade toys and decorations, all chosen with impeccable taste.

Les Senteurs, 71 Elizabeth Street:

Nose out London’s oldest independent perfumery, which is still run by the Hawksley family and prides itself on personal service. With more than 350 scents on offer, you’ll find everything from contemporary collections to long-forgotten gems by historic French and Italian perfume houses. You can even buy testers for just £2, the perfect stocking filler.

Semmalina Starbags, 225 Ebury St:

Step inside this enchanting children’s boutique to find a host of things you don’t need but absolutely want. We’re talking vintage hobby horses, tiny can can skirts, antique dollhouses and designer wear for little people. Co-owner Sarah Standing, a journalist for Tatler and The Spectator, is unapologetically posh but utterly non-pretentious.

David Thomas, 65 Pimlico Road:

One of the UK’s most legendary goldsmiths, David Thomas specialises in bespoke jewells that he makes by hand in his Pimlico Road workshop. His daughter, Jessie, is also a talented jeweller and her contemporary collection lends itself to younger audiences.
